Review on Pure, Safe, And Stylish: Megahome Water Distiller With BPA-Free Plastic Collection by Noe Epps

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Fan failed after about six months.

I bought this at a discount from Kate's Books (I suspect they had located a batch of returned or defective products). After abut six months the fan failed, and they took the position it was past their warranty. On this purchase I used a credit card with an extended warranty (a CITI Forward), rather than my gift card balance, since problems with these products do seem moderately common.Otherwise I was happy with the product. If you stop it before the end, most of the impurities will be in the water in the bottom and can be poured out, reducing the need for cleaning. It would be nice if the product had a timer built in, although I presume that with searching I could find a suitable one.My replacement will be the same, partially because I am personally happy with the basic product, and partially because I still have a working bottom, and I could deal with any failure in that component by using the one I have. Also, filters and cleaners are still available.I found the noise less than some reviews had led me to expect, and not a problem.I choose not to pay extra for a glass bottle because I see not real reason for concern, plus glass is heavier and prone to breakage (its self a safety concern). I use the water quickly, and if stored it is in different container for the refrigerator.I bought a distiller because of concerns about fluoride in the local water, and as an older adult I can realize no cavity prevention benefits from it, but can suffer adverse effects. See the Fluoride Action Network website for a discussion of what these are.

Pros
  • I prefer the glass to plastic
Cons
  • The price point of the Megahome Water Distiller may be unaffordable for some consumers
