UPDATE: Govee Customer Service gets 5 stars, like their Bluetooth Remote product, not this one. After emailing their customer service they sent me a set of their bluetooth version (remote control via phone app) overnight which they told me was an upgraded controller of that version. Now I'm convinced of it. I've been using the new set a lot now (probably over 200 on/off cycles in the past few weeks). This is a fun and functional addition. I use them as a closet light in a trailer. The white light could be brighter, but it's not bad. Then the real fun begins with remotely changing colors or turning on sync mode with the music, which is pretty darn fun too. Recommend them unreservedly in Bluetooth version. [Original Review:] When they worked, they exceeded my expectations. It lasted a couple of weeks, about 20 on-off cycles. Then I turned them on, they flashed a few random colors, after that no one saw them. The attached photo shows the location of the "smoky" chip inside the controller. After Govee received a photo and description of the problem via email, the return was processed immediately. About 5% of reviews end up like this. The remaining 5% with 1-2 stars are just people unhappy with glue, probably fabric or textured plastic? that I had no problems with a smooth painted surface. If enough buyers send useful feedback to Govee (is that chip always the culprit?), maybe they can direct Chinese manufacturing to fix the problem, since it's a fun product when it works.
