The only reason I'm giving this 3 stars is because it doesn't work with my HR54 DirecTV receiver, but I've read that others say that this Fantom hard drive works with her. So if you think it might work on your HR54, by all means give it a try. I won't stop you from buying it. I knew something was wrong when it literally took me an hour to change the setup on this hard drive. The reformatting process was pretty quick, but after that it took forever to set up. And when it was finally over, my picture was completely frozen ("Let go." Sorry, just had to) I couldn't do anything but reset the DirecTV DVR and start over. This went on for several hours after my first setup attempt. I thought the fantom drive wouldn't work so I plugged it into my PC and it worked at FLASHING FAST SPEED! equipped with this disc. I would keep this drive for my PC but it doesn't serve my purpose as I already have a 12 terabyte RAID array formatted for my PC. So I actually had to send it back. Does this drive work on some DirecTV DVRs like the HR44? From the reviews I've read on Revain, the answer is yes. But the reviews seem a little iffy when it comes to the performance of the HR54 receivers. Mines are one of them. Oh yeah, since this drive is 2.5 inches, it's very small so you don't have to worry about space. And that drive is STILL. It doesn't matter whether you want to save space around your PC workstation or are looking for a quiet hard drive with lightning-fast data transfer speeds. Then these drives are for you. But taking the risk of buying this drive to work with a DirecTV HR54 receiver is now up to you because it's not for me.
