As the name suggests, this case is definitely not waterproof. I would call it somewhat water resistant. But if you want to test yourself, add a few cups of water to the pouch. All the water will start flowing out immediately and after a few minutes the bag will be empty. If water comes out, it means water is coming in. Despite this, the bag is still good. It holds its shape well, has some padding and good reflective strips on the sides. The elastic drawstring at the top is a nice touch for holding a light jacket. I originally chose it as a small cooler for day-long bike picnics. And it works if you also understand that as the ice melts, the water just seeps in and you'll soon be running out of ice or cold water to keep your food/drinks cool.
