large current drop, not ideal for charging

I tested this with 2 different chargers with different current ratings. Standard 1 amp iPhone charger and premium 2.1 amp charger. With the software on my cell phone, I was able to read the current current. I have found that both chargers connected to this cable can only supply around 500mA. Going straight to the chargers, the iPhone charger gave me about 800mA and the 2.1A charger gave me about 1200mA. My phone was about 78% charged so it wouldn't draw max current. However, when connected to an extension cord, it could only draw about 500mA. Phone Droid maxx for reference.
