Review on WeBoost Connect 470105 Signal Booster by Andy Edwards

Revainrating 2 out of 5

The device may work, but not with the supplied antennas.

I was very disappointed with this device. I bought it for my parents in the country. The nearest cell tower is only 2 miles away but there are many hills and forests along the way. The first problem was that the window antenna was not picking up the signal. It was too small and weak. I had to buy a Yagi directional antenna to mount on a mast along with their TV antenna. Once that was done it picked up the signal and we got the green light on the device. The second problem is that the small desktop antenna that comes with the kit is useless. If you move your phone more than 60 cm away from it, it will lose the signal. Then I bought a Wilson antenna to transmit the signal indoors. Coming to the third problem, the coaxial output for the tabletop antenna is not a standard size F-connector. It's like a mini coax cable or something. I've already had to buy two N to F adapters for the Yagi and Wilson antennas, so buying another F to Mini F(?) adapter was too much. Anyway, at that point we were leaving my parents' house and I couldn't find a suitable adapter anywhere. I noticed that the $399 version comes with a Yagi antenna and a larger Wilson antenna, so I'm guessing that the grey/black box has a standard size coax F connector while the all black version does has a coax mini jack.
