My sons tear their shoes like crazy. Especially now that even the traditionally "reliable" and "high quality" shoe companies (I'm looking at you, Nike and Adidas!) are producing crap shoes, especially for kids. My boys can easily destroy a pair of Nikes in a week. We've learned that it's far more profitable to spend more money on shoes that last longer, look better for longer, and ultimately are better for my kids' feet. A pair of Brooks might cost $100, but my sons would rather outgrow them than wear them out or fall off their soles. But it's nice for kids to have something that can be easily removed, and that's how I stumbled across them. I myself have Merrill hiking boots and they are very durable and tough so I decided to risk them. So glad I did! My kids love them. They are very comfortable, durable but not too bulky and heavy. I can say that these puppies will last a long time. The color is very nice, the leather is of good quality. I would even say they could pass for dress shoes - seriously, they are so attractive. And the price was definitely right! I'll see how they hold up in the Seattle rain (we're still stuck at home so these shoes don't get a lot of muddy fieldwork at school these days), but so far so good. Highly recommended!
