My Review - Takeya Classic Water Bottle

After much discussion I finally decided on this water bottle. Choosing a water bottle with millions of options wasn't easy. Strangely, glass is the best choice and there aren't many options. LifeFactory has some good water bottles but I'm not keen on their style (more feminine style IMO) so I went with Takeya as it was the only other logical choice. Pros: Great looking water bottle. Very elegant modern style. Perfect size spout. Slightly more than usual, which makes drinking easier. The lid is amazing. It's thick, durable plastic, and is fun to "click" (like spinning) on or off the spout. The square design of the cap makes it easy to remove with or without wet hands. The handle is very durable. It's great (perhaps specially designed) for carrying a bottle with your index finger when you don't want to carry it in your hand. The handle is loose and rotates freely. And while it "appears" to hold the lid in place, there's another thick glass bead holding it in place so it doesn't go anywhere. The girth is just the right size for a perfect bottle grip - not too thick, not too thin. The weight is spot on considering it's made of glass. There's nothing unreasonable about that. The weight of the bottle is very well balanced throughout. Cons: The grip is a little uncomfortable at first, but you'll learn to work around it. The silicone case attracts every tiny dust. Particles, but again, nothing inappropriate. If you're obsessed with cleanliness, try a color other than black. Conclusion with updates below. Please more". Bottom line: I highly recommend this bottle. It is very well designed and looks great. Among the other options you have in glass water bottles (besides the Snapple bottle in the store) this is a great choice. You won't be disappointed. Just remember that it's made of glass and isn't indestructible. So if you break it, that's your problem, not a design flaw. Update - (6/1/11) The water bottle still works great Seal is solid Handle is solid Packaging hasn't stretched (my initial concern over time) The biggest benefit of this bottle is that I'm drinking more water than usual - a lot more Update - (02/22/12) I still use this bottle EVERY day What I find quite interesting is that over time the 'dust" particles are no longer attracted to the silicone. Although it started out as a 'one stop shop', today the particles are almost invisible Seal is still so good t as it was originally. With that cap on, I toss the bottle on the bed or put it in my backpack with complete confidence, knowing nothing will spill. The stylus still holds up great - I carry it with my index finger so I put quite a bit of force on it - absolutely no change in its performance. Update - (2/11/15) Still have that original bottle. I bought. Works and looks just as good as day one. He went through many journeys and environmental changes. This is probably my best investment in a health related product and has amortized many times over for all the money saved by not buying bottled water. I expect it will easily last another 5 years and I have no motivation to switch to another water bottle given how well designed it is and how much I think it's aesthetically future-proof, but for one at least While. And yes, 4 years later I still get compliments on how cool he is - he arouses a lot of curiosity with his unique style and everyone loves him.
