Review on Olympus Digital Dm 720 Voice Recorder by Todd Amarsingh

Revainrating 5 out of 5

It's worth bumping the price if noise cancellation is going to be an issue!

This recorder was recommended to me, but initially I didn't want to spend that much on a recorder. After spending 1/3 the list price on a Sony that did almost everything I needed I figured I was ready to go. Now I'm pretty sure if I used Sony for what people use them for 99% of the time (lecturing, taking notes, spying on ex-boyfriends, just joking about the latter lol) I'd be very happy with it. . But not shooting in a quiet environment made the difference much clearer, as did the tone. I've spent many hours using various apps and software to not only get rid of unnecessary background noise (Sony has a surprisingly VERY long range!) but also to get rid of buzz and hiss when certain sounds are amplified. So for the price, the Sony is a good choice for the above applications, but if you're recording (e.g. outdoors or in other noisy situations) the difference in quality is definitely worth the upgrade.
