It's confusing so I ordered my usual size 9. I'd say it could be a little bigger, but not by much, and I think an 8 1/2 would be too small. 9.5 would of course be too big. So my experience is that you should just order your normal size or maybe (as recommended by the manufacturer) order half a size down.
