If you ever have doubts about Mephisto, go to Mephisto's shop (they can usually be found in affluent areas). Try a few and you will get it. They either fit perfectly or require very little adjustment by lifting the heel to avoid chafing at the ankle. Retailers will tell you that a pair of these shoes takes longer to make than a car, and it shows. The shoes are very well made. I usually wear a pair at a time and typically use 2 years before they really wear out/fall apart. You can restore and restore them, but there's little you can do when they're worn out. So it's one of those things where you can pay $100 for a decent pair of Johnston and Murphy or Cole Haan, or you can pay 3x more for a more comfortable shoe that will last significantly longer. I'm also trading them in for a pair of Mephisto Nautics this week. Highly recommended.
