No kidding, this case, while soft, literally protected our new iPad from hammer claws. Here's the story: My church bought an iPad for weekly church services and we kept it in our small closet-sized safe. The safe's code was either changed or lost, and it had to be cracked with a hammer while the suitcase was inside. Hammer claws hit the case when opening the door, but miraculously everything is fine with the iPad. There is a small mark on the case but it still protects.
