Review on Podofo Compatible Touchscreen Bluetooth Microphone by Brian Douglas

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Lots and lots of broken promises

Plugging in my iPhone 12 resulted in a continuous cycle of reboots. The phone kept connecting and disconnecting while the radio kept booting up. In short, no, there is no IOS CarPlay compatibility. There is a mirroring option for the iPhone in the settings, but even selecting that option instead of CarPlay didn't change anything. The manual says CarPlay should be set up via a USB cable, which makes sense given that there's also no voice control button, as Apple says for wireless setup. Even if CarPlay works, unlike Android, it can't communicate with the phone through the radio's screen - when it only offers mirroring, and only via USB. There are only 4 useful pages in a very small manual, mostly explanations on how to connect. You must be familiar with car stereos to successfully install this. Although there are two remotes, neither comes with a battery. While one is labeled to use the more-or-less standard CR2025, the "Steering Wheel" remote has no label or mention in the manual and uses a type of battery I'm not familiar with, making it utterly useless. to work here, along with standard Bluetooth connections. I was able to make calls and play music correctly on the paired iPhone as expected. The rear camera also works (I haven't tested it in the dark) and triggers correctly when 12V is applied to the activation cable. Luckily I tested this on a bench before attempting to install it and I strongly encourage you to do the same. It may have Android smart features, but for IOS it's just a radio with Bluetooth capability. Shopping spree.
