I was looking for a new toaster after my old one died so I looked around and saw this one and to be honest there are a thousand toasters out there but I knew from experience I don't want anything too automated as they don't last long but I saw the "DEFROST" feature and thought it was something new and not too much that there was no manual control so I chose this one. GREAT CHOICE, this toast fits perfectly, the book has a page giving examples of how your toast will look on each setting (much needed over the years) and a removable crumb tray (also something that should be required). The cable is 31 inches long and the slots are 5.25 inches by 1.25 inches. Bottom Line: It toasts my bread and bagels perfectly (only has one knob to toast 1 side of the bagels). As it does exactly what I wanted and does it very well, 5 stars it's a great choice.
