Review on 🍞 Panasonic FlashXpress Toaster Oven: Double Infrared Heating, Removable 9-Inch Inner Tray - Silver, 12 x 13 x 10.25 by Patricia Pena

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Just a big mistake

GOOD: (1) Small. Doesn't take up much counter space, but the interior space is relatively small. While it can toast 4 slices of square white bread, it only holds 2 slices of rye bread. The only thing I care about is when I toast hot dog buns. The old company Black and Decker just toasted 3 open hot dog buns. This Panasonic only fits 2. It's also relatively flat. (2) Does not require preheating. There is no preheat at all. Good. The old Black and Decker it replaced required a 15 minute preheat. While I haven't seen anything that addresses this, I suspect it uses less power than those that require preheating. (3) Browning quickly and evenly. (4) Reheats a cold bagel (straight from fridge to toaster) in just 3 minutes. Warm inside and out. (5) At 1300w it doesn't get as hot as 1800w models like the Breville BOV650XL which I bought and returned without even toasting a loaf of bread because it was getting so hot outside I was afraid it would would damage the kitchen counter and/or the walls and/or the cabinet above, or even cause a fire.(6) The shelf slides out when the door is opened. Good. It's even spring loaded so it will close the door if you try to close it. DISAPPOINTING: (1) Oven light keeps turning on and off during reheating/roasting/baking. But that's just part of the normal process. NOT SO GOOD: (1) You can't set the bake time to more than 25 minutes. So if you want to bake a potato for an hour, you either have to let it complete the 25 minute bake cycle and then start over and then repeat again, or watch the time tick down and... -cycle - - reset repeatedly the timer for 25 minutes. That means you have to stay in the kitchen with the toaster and do nothing else. This is very annoying. (2) The idea for DARK Toast is not mine. To get what I consider DARK toast, it has to be looped to DARK first and then looped back to MEDIUM. I only rated it 4 stars due to the max bake time of 25 minutes with no option to override it. Otherwise I would give 5 stars after about a week of use. If I have any further thoughts over time I will update my review.

Pros
  • Pleasant
Cons
  • Mostly OK, but...
