I usually wear small with all my clothes. I first ordered these shorts in a small size and the elastic waistband was too tight. I don't have the smallest waist - I'm pretty straight up and down/less curvy. So the waist was too tight for the small size. I reissued the medium size and it is much better. The pant/seat area is larger than the small size, but it doesn't gape or be too loose. So I would recommend ordering one size larger. Also, the fabric on it is really nice. This is no ordinary knit fabric. I feel like I can wear black shorts. They don't look like sweatpants to me at all!
