I wish I had had one like this a year ago. Now I have 2.

Summary: Well designed and very easy to use. I bought two of these for cloning work. I use mine with Samsung 9xx and Crucial P1 SSDs with no problems. I have a lot of M.2 SSDs now, but some of my motherboards only have an M.2 connector. This USB device makes it much easier to move data around during an SSD upgrade. It's more important to me that it works at all than having a transfer rate of 10 Gbps. USB3.x is good, but USB2 is fine for most file transfer projects. They get a little warm, but not too hot. Keep some air around it. I find it easier to insert the SSD by first inserting it into the rubber mounting stud and then laying it almost horizontally and using enough force to bend the rubber mounting just enough for the M.2 pins to pop out of the socket. . Then plug it fully into the outlet. I have no problem with Type-C to Type-C cables. I tried this on several USB 3.x Type-C devices and all worked fine. USB Type-A connectors will or will not be hit. Sometimes they work and sometimes they don't. I'm not sure why. In this case, Win10 simply does not recognize the device. Using my own Type-C to Type-A cable helps. I will do more testing later. This may be due to the USB2 and USB3 ports, but I don't think this is a current limitation. Note added 2 days later: This was a bad USB extender that I used for Type-A testing on both USB 2.0 and USB 3.x (blue socket). Note, however, that an SSD can consume 1 watt when idle and 10 watts during data transfer. If you're using a USB 2.0 port, make sure it can handle a few amps (most can't). If not, you'll need to use a self-powered hub. I connected a Samsung 950 in NTFS format to my OnePlus 5 Android 9 phone and it worked! There is a Type-C port. I've transferred a number of media files with no problems. Your results may vary. My phone could provide enough power and also supports NTFS. A PCIe device attached to a phone is useful even for a temporary file transfer project.
