I was skeptical about the claim that the adjustment only takes a few minutes. It is true. The unit arrives well packaged and mostly assembled. I installed and prepared the software in about 10 minutes. Instructions are minimal and there are plenty of online resources and YouTube videos to help you install and set up the software. The software that comes with the machine via download is sufficient, but the real power of the engraver comes from commercial software like Lightburn. I made my first cut about half an hour after opening the box. Make sure, that there is a disposable surface under the engraver. You will make the mistake of burning through what you want to engrave. Now I have some new interesting patterns on my workbench table top. The results you get from engraving and cutting are very different. The results are very material and surface dependent. Finding the right power, speed, and pass count settings is a trial and error process. Once found, the results are amazing! Note that the Max (810mm x 410mm) takes up a lot of desk space. The working area is about 16 x 32 inches and the actual machine is larger. Plan plenty of space. Pros: High quality hardware, mostly pre-assembled, great packaging, great value for money, really good results. Cons: Inadequate guidance. You MUST get online instructions and software - the focus wheel is hard to get and use. - Focus is critical and difficult to set up correctly (possibly my inexperience) - Software interface is not intuitive - Check YouTube or read instruction pages. Wishes - I wish I had bought the 40W. Much more performance for a little more money. 30w works great, I'm trying to get some heavy cuts which is hard for her. Overall, it's easy to set up, easy to light, and the results are impressive.
