Review on Monroe 557003 Shock Absorber by Neil Biondo

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Poor quality control gives a "Made in the USA " product a bad name!

Poor quality control. Bought two shocks for my P30 RV chassis. One shock had an improperly pressed bushing and the dust cover was not properly attached (see photo). The dust cover was loose and could be moved by hand. Both shocks arrived with dents on both bodies. This was caused by the mounting bolts that come with the shock absorbers but are not fitted in the box (see photo). Poor packaging with the quality issues already mentioned makes me question my confidence in the Monroe brand. Will come back immediately. I would have expected more from a product made in the USA.

Pros
  • Nitrogen Gas: Improves ride and handling, helps maintain tire-road contact by reducing ventilation - in most cases
Cons
  • Expensive
