These speakers work well with my MP3 or Bluetooth phone. They're loud enough because I installed them right next to our heads. While driving, with engine noise and wind noise, they are sufficient. When parked and more than 20 to 30 feet away from them, they are not very noisy. They also have lots of highs and very little bass. I realize this is sort of a compromise for smaller speakers, but I've heard speakers this size or smaller with much better bass. The volume depends on the song, but the bass is everywhere.
