Review on πŸ’Ύ High-Capacity Glyph StudioRAID Thunderbolt 2 Desktop External Hard Drive (28TB): Efficient Storage Solution for Professionals by Chris Nonamaker

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Reliable product and solid team

I hesitated for several months to choose the most economical RAID system for my needs (video production and archiving). It had no ratings, and almost every other system on Revain has a rating of 3.5 or worse (note: people tend to blame the manufacturer for faulty third-party drives). But after seeing that Glyph is pretty much the only company that makes gear specifically designed for the studio production workflow, and after discussing a few things with the company's very supportive staff, I decided to give it a go to attempt. I can't be happier with my purchase. It obviously worked for archiving large amounts of video, but I also use it for local production, which is a hell of a lot better than the single external hard drives I've used (MyPassport Ultra). In case you're wondering, 50MB/s with WD vs 350MB/s according to the Blackmagic Disk Speed Test app. I'm watching 4K multicam clips with multiple audio streams and 10-bit frames. And given the price comparison - I could have bought an empty RAID enclosure and my own drives for about the same price - but in terms of build quality, warranty, and top notch customer service, I'm 100% happy with my decision.

Pros
  • 28TB capacity, enterprise class
Cons
  • Definitely bad product
