Works great, but add ferrite beads for better results!

I have recently decided to upgrade many of my retro systems to S-Video and have decided to start with the Wii as it offers games for a variety of systems. I connected this cable to a 2001 Sharp CRT TV and it looks great. The video is significantly cleaner than what Composite offers. The first notable improvement is that you don't see the ghostly outlines that a composite can sometimes have. When I started playing the Wii version of the original Sonic the Hedgehog, the benefits became even more apparent. Everything is incredibly clear and bright. I hooked up a Sega Genesis to the same TV and I used a real Sonic cartridge running on Genesis Composite to compare it to a game running on Wii with S-Video and the picture on Wii was much cleaner for the same game. The only potential downside to using S-Video is that some games may look too clean, as early pixel art was often designed to blur the composition to blend specific colors. The Sonic 3 title screen or the transparent Marble Zone tubes in Sonic 1 used this technique and now look like they're playing on an HDTV, meaning they look like they're made out of a checkerboard pattern of pixels. . This is a very minor complaint, and it's not the cable's fault, it's the various games. The games still look great, they just might look different. Sharpening on a good CRT is worth it in my opinion, I was really surprised to see how sharp my 17 year old TV could be. However, after a few years of using this cable, I noticed some interference clipping. high. After removing the TV, switcher box and the Wii itself, I assumed the cable was faulty and ordered another. The new cable had the same problem and I noticed another reviewer on the ferrite beads mentioned here. I ordered 20pcs Cedmon Ferrite Ring Cable Clamp RFI EMI Noise Suppressor for 3mm/5mm/7mm/9mm/13mm Cable Black. And after clamping 5 or 6 in different places, the noise disappeared. I don't know if this caused a change in atmosphere, but they don't seem to have the best defenses.
