We decided to buy this for our 3 year old nephew based on the durability of the device which we have had for about six years. My son got it when he was four, just turned ten and still goes and drives in the garage or driveway. It may take a few minutes for kids to get comfortable, they make small back and forth motions (maybe around 15 degrees) with the steering wheel to get them moving. If you turn it all the way like a steering wheel, you turn but don't move forward. I don't think anyone will drive it long distances, but since we've had it it's been sitting in our driveway, garage and for short trips down the street regularly. We've used it indoors for a while, not very well on carpet, and it didn't seem to damage our hardwood floors, although they advise against using it on hardwood floors for that reason. Once outside it became a permanent outdoor toy as the wheels got chewed up a bit in the driveway and driveway and I'm sure it will be scratching the floor now. It is very durable and has been ridden by people of all sizes, even over 200 pounds, with no problems. Now my son is over 1.50m tall so he has to bend his knees a bit but it's worth going on. Good buy for us, years of fun.
