My best friend told me she has a shower head with a filter and lives in Cali with hard water, I didn't think it was such a bad idea. So I took a closer look at Revain and settled on this one. This filter also helps remove iron. The filter lasts about 6 months. It looked easy to use and it was. I didn't use any special tools. I used the tape from the box and wrapped it around the screw hole several times, then unscrewed the shower head, turned on the water - checked, then there was a small leak so I removed the shower head and added more sanitary tape, and as you can see in my picture there are no leaks in the screw area. This includes plumbing because most showerheads require it. So use it. I installed it myself, it took about 12 minutes. I LOVE LOVE LOVE this shower head. I think it's okay that the filter only has to be changed every 6 months. Highly recommended if the price is right.
