I took the rest of my Christmas gifts and bought this one. I wanted a benchtop multimeter, but there wasn't much of a difference between it and a benchtop meter. It performs all voltage logging and performs all the functions of an inexpensive benchtop meter. The display is BIG. This makes it easy to get it in place and quickly see what it's doing. I also have a V87 and it's great, but it only has the basic functions that a multimeter should have and nothing fancy. It's accurate and it works, but the 289 has all the bells and whistles that high-end review units should have. I have not yet tested it in 3-phase 480 V operation, but I assume that not much will change in operation. The menu is a bit complicated but not impossible to use. I guess for the average techie you'll probably set it to a few functions you need it for and a long menu won't be too heavy. If you are an AV/HAM/Computer lover, this is more than what you need. If you want the best, this is it!
