Review on πŸ”Œ Magicfour Fuel Gas Can Vent Caps, 6 Pack – Enhanced Flow Gas Tank Vent Caps – Replacement Vent Plug for Gas, Fuel, and Water Can Jugs (No Lanyard-Attached Cap) by Ronald Orear

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Easy to install on Rotopax/Fuelpax but no strap means the little cap gets lost

I can spoon molasses into my gas tank faster than the Rotopax/Fuelpax canisters I use to fill my gas tank with gas to fill. The vent built into the spout does not work at all. So I looked at vent caps and settled on MagicFour vent caps. It looks like the holes are designed and come with a drill bit for the correct hole size. I installed them on a Fuelpax canister which is a thinner walled version of the Rotopax canisters (see picture). Installation is easy, but the instructions could be improved. First, the threaded brass insert fitted the drilled hole very snugly, and severe tension could straighten the wire, causing the piece to fall inward. I gently persuaded the part just enough to put the nut on and used the nut to pull the part all the way out and assemble it according to the instructions. Second, the assembly will not be properly tightened because as the nut is tightened, the entire assembly will begin to rotate. I used pliers to hold the threaded part, taped the pliers to protect the threads, and then held it while I tightened the nut properly (see attached image). Now accelerating is a pleasure. With the Rotopax spout alone, it took 5 minutes to empty with one slow sip. When I open the mouth of the Magicfour, it pours smoothly and empties in less than 60 seconds. One observation is that small caps are not tracked and are guaranteed to fall out and/or lose. I big oversight in the product is the lack of lace. I put a star for the lack of a tip so as not to lose the cap.
