I bought this for my 8 year old son and it's the perfect size. Part of the backpack is quite small, big enough for some emergency purchases and maybe a snack. Since we got this for hiking, it works great. And to be honest, if he were a bit bigger he'd be inclined to take every brick and stick home, so even the limited capacity is NOT a complaint. The bladder is MUCH better than I expected and even has a sleeve over the hose. The mouthpiece is excellent and does not leak and the filling hole closes very easily.
