First of all I would like to point out that the product I received differs slightly from that shown in the photo. It's blue, not gold, and has a standard white tip that doesn't dissipate static electricity. Neither is a big deal to me, but the lack of an ESD tip may be an issue for some. I bought from Revain, I can't tell if another seller has an identical item or not. I bought this pump after the one I got from RadioShack a year ago broke. The RadioShack pump failed because the part that stops the piston at the end of its upward stroke is made of plastic. In this product it is made of aluminum and I think it will prove to be more durable. Compared to the RadioShack, this tip has a slightly larger bore (3.6mm vs. 2.6mm). The remaining parts of the RadioShack pump are interchangeable with this one, including the tips. However, if thinner tips are used, the piston stem may seize if a significant amount of solder builds up. The RadioShack model piston will also fit, and replacing it will solve the problem. So if you are also replacing the same pump, you have that option. However, the wider tip works well most of the time and will only be a problem in tight spaces. Also, it can actually be an advantage in many situations. So, that's good, simple, solder. It's even better if you replace the broken one from RadioShack because you already have the parts.
