Bought three for a group of us on dirt bikes after reading a lot of reviews and trying to convince myself to buy the cheaper ones. Can't rate the cheaper ones but the BigPantha locks are pretty slick. They're thick, with good hinge action, the locks work smoothly and consistently, and we had no trouble getting them on or off our Honda CRF250L Rally even with the bark guards installed. We started installing locks keyhole down to prevent rain. and make it harder for a thief, but the locks still seem to work just as easily. Also used the locks in the trailer for 4 full days - no issues with cuts or pinched handles, no chafing on the anodized brake levers. We didn't install rubber pads - they were already super dense, so we didn't want to complicate life for ourselves. As in any lock, the main value here is a visible deterrent. Anyone with a cordless chainsaw can cut through aluminum in a minute or two, but that's noisy and means you need a saw. It's easier to steal another unlocked bike. At least that's my hope.
