Decent power connector for DVR

I used the Rexing Smart Hardwire Kit for the power connector to install my Rexing V3 and recommend it as it is by far the cleanest option. The cable can easily be routed under the front edge of the headliner to the side A-pillar of the vehicle and then inside the A-pillar to the dashboard and fuse box. The included plastic tool helps create enough clearance to insert the cable. My car had fuse boxes on both sides of the dashboard. On most vehicles, the fuse box is on the driver's side. The only downside to the cable set is that it is designed for vehicles with Micro2 fuses. While this will likely work for older cars, most new cars use mini fuses. To get things working I bought two "Add Chain" adapters (available from Revain, O'Reillys or AutoZone etc for a few dollars). In fact, you can add an extra circuit to an existing one by replacing the fuse with an adapter. Each circuit has its own fuse and the installation is fully reversible, requiring no changes to vehicle wiring. I cut off the ends of the Rexing harness fuses and crimped the adapters. Rexing really should include these adapters in the cable set to make installation really easy. The harness has two power connections - one for continuous power and one for power only when the ignition is on. It also has an undervoltage lockout. This allows the camera to record when the car is parked and avoids completely draining the car battery. I found two constant and switched power fuses in the fuse box and used them to connect the adapters.
