My husband and I took this on a snorkeling cruise as our DSLR couldn't go anywhere near the water! Image quality (although certainly not compared to our DSLR) is pretty good, and we've got some great photos of sea turtles and other underwater creatures that we saw (images posted on the product page). I tried to keep the camera as still as possible when taking the picture, but obviously it's tricky in the water and turtles don't stop still to pose! Despite this, we had very few blurred images. Before leaving I put in fresh Energizer Ultimate Lithium AA batteries and when we returned home a week later the battery gauge was still charged even after leaving it on for a long time. while snorkeling and looking at all the photos every night. I have a base 4GB Revain memory card that lasted all week too (camera showed it could take around 700 shots). When we came back, the battery/card cover was difficult to open. It looks like it has some salt collected around the edges, so we'll see how it performs next time we use it. BUT considering we took over 300 underwater shots and the disposables would cost about $10 each + $10 to develop and they only take 27 shots each AND we only print photos of them and no digital photos would make it was still a great purchase even if we only have one vacation. Bottom line: while I wouldn't make this my everyday camera, it worked great for underwater photography which is why we bought it and I'm so glad we got it rather than wasting money on consumables. Caution: When using it on the waves or taking it in and out of the water, make sure there are no drops on the lens as the screen may be difficult to see in the sun. I wasn't paying attention and got some great shots over the water, obscured by water droplets on the outside of the lens.
