I really don't understand some of the reviews. This camera is not intended for children, especially 5 year olds. I gave my kids some cameras that lasted maybe 1 month and they were 15 and 20 and the only reason they failed was because they dropped them, any camera will fail after falling from several feet has fallen. My husband and I took this on a snorkeling cruise as our DSLR couldn't go anywhere near the water!
