I really don't understand some of the reviews. This camera is not intended for children, especially 5 year olds. I gave my kids some cameras that lasted maybe 1 month and they were 15 and 20 and the only reason they failed was because they dropped them, any camera will fail after falling from several feet has fallen. I've used this camera in Aruba all week, photographed some of it in the water and on land, and haven't encountered any issues with water leakage or fogging. I took a video while in the pool and it looked good for a $70 camera. The batteries last a long time and have just been replaced after 3 days of partial use or maybe 60-70 photos and these were the original standard batteries that came in the box. The battery compartment gives me no problems thanks to the internal latch that holds the battery and the lock that locks the entire compartment. Underwater the camera took some great photos of fish on the reef and didn't notice the flash firing, but all the photos were bright enough even on a cloudy day. From night time use the flash stopped working except it was completely dark but then again I only bought this camera for the water and beach during the day. I use my more expensive $350 camera for other shots, especially at night. I really think they need to fix the flash issue as there is only an "Auto" or "Off" option in the menu and I don't think the light sensor isn't very accurate. When I used the camera when it was a bit dark, I just covered the sensor with my finger to trigger the flash. Based on my experience I would highly recommend this camera for snorkeling and day and night use in bright areas hence the 4 star rating instead of 5.
