Review on Melissa Doug Deluxe Wooden Puzzle by Gabriel Salleh

I was really excited about this product at first because my 2 year old saw it in the box and wanted me to open it right away for them to play with be able. it's because they have another M&D puzzle. The shapes looked attractive and large and the handles seemed comfortable to use, but I removed the plastic wrap from them and they smelled awful. It's not a chemical smell like some newly discovered products, it smelled like a dead crab sitting huddled between the particle boards that make it up in a warm storage room. I don't know what could be causing this smell other than glue, but it's bad. None of the other items in the box smelled, and that was only when I removed the packaging, but even when it's in the box on my desk, if you walk next to it, it smells awful. I wouldn't recommend this as it was an instant loss of money from not getting it back but we can't play with it. Also, this material is much cheaper than other wooden puzzles that we have or have seen. The color and text are pasted onto paper instead of paint, the puzzle and pieces are made from multi-layer chipboard nowhere near wood, and the only solid wood parts are the handles bolted to the pieces. upset.
