Works just as well as the previous version, read/write speeds are as good as an external hard drive can be. You'll probably have trouble playing videos in super high quality, but you shouldn't be using it for that anyway. The form factor is slightly inferior to the previous version. The previous version looked like a phone and easily fit in your pocket. It has sharp corners and looks like a PS4 or something. I don't care about fingerprints, but it's not very pocket-friendly like the previous one. Also, it's a great investment for an external hard drive. I even have 3 now. Can't recommend this enough, just wish they would go back to rounded corners.
