I know this laptop stand is for laptops, ipads etc but a lady who reviewed it said it works great holding the kindle, when she lies down with her legs up. And that's what I needed - my old makeshift plastic knee brace ended up falling apart and I needed something. So it's a bit heavier than light plastic, but strong and sturdy enough. It also has small grip pads in strategic places that keep a Kindle (or laptop, I assume) from slipping. I thought the "shelf" the computer would sit on would be too wide for Kindle security, but it definitely isn't. The stand has a spinning plate on the bottom, but it doesn't spin freely, it doesn't "loosen" to spin when you try to read. And it's pretty darn cheap considering how much I paid for this thinner one. Thanks Carnation, well done!
