I bought this camera for my wife. She needs a slim camera that fits easily in her purse so she can take it anywhere and still take decent photos. I've compared similarly priced cameras from Nikon, Canon, and other brands. They offer less zoom capability and the lens appears smaller. This camera feels a little heavier, perhaps because it uses more metal components, which is good for quality and durability. The lens has a slight wide-angle orientation at the default settings, which again is a nice surprise for a camera in this price range. The images are razor sharp and clear, the auto exposure works well, maybe a bit off if there is a bit of overexposure. It has many features that you will only find in higher-end DSLRs. The shutter speed can be set up to 6 seconds, which is convenient for night shots. I'm satisfied with the features and quality of this camera and I'm very glad I chose it over other popular Japanese brands.
