Review on StartSmart Complete Freshwater for Optimal Aquarium Health, 12-Ounce by Eric Castillo

I first bought this product when I got goldfish and needed to figure out how to care for them. I knew nothing about keeping fish and lost all but one goldfish due to high ammonia levels. Since then I have learned a lot about the nitrogen cycle. I continue to use this product to ensure good bacteria are in my tank after major water changes and tank cleans and have never had any problems. Make sure my tank is draining properly by adding ammonia or rotting fish food to the tank. For those hoping this will start the aquarium completely I would suggest that you ensure there is already enough food in the aquarium for bacteria to live before adding this product. If you take fresh clean water and add bacteria, it will soon die due to lack of nutrition. The suggestion to add this product and then immediately add the fish to the tank is because the fish are being fed and the feces produce ammonia which gives the bacteria food to live on.
