They have been used to replace outdoor garden lamps as well as 921's. The base of the lamp was a bit thicker than the 921s they replaced and I couldn't get it to fit the socket at first. Thickness measurements showed that the new lamp was about 10 thousandths thicker. It didn't seem like enough to prevent it from inserting, so I tried again, with more determination and strength, and was able to insert it into the socket. This is my second time buying them and on this batch the base wasn't that thick and they fit well. The transport protection was unreliable. The lightbulbs in the box dangled, rattled, and it was a miracle none of them broke in transit.
