Review on Bicycle Mechanic Maintenance Aluminum Adjustable by Harley Franchetti

Good product marred by poor instructions and packaging

After I put it together this bike stand works pretty well. But the assembly was extremely difficult and time-consuming due to several factors that could be improved. First, the assembly instructions are poor; written by a non-English speaker, they are unclear and incomplete. The manufacturer needs to invest in more detailed and better written instructions. (You need to pay the buyer for it.) For example, the bike clamp was oriented in the opposite direction from the instruction. I had never used a bike stand before so had no idea if the clamp could be rotated or how; So I had to contact the seller who sent me two helpful pictures that weren't in the instructions but should have been and that helped set the clamp in the right direction. The second problem was damage in transit: the thick metal brace at the top of the main frame was too narrow for the clamp to slip through. I pondered this for a while, driven by the incomprehensible instructions, and so ended up writing back to the seller who informed me that the mount must have been bent upon delivery. I would have to expand the product return bracket myself. I found a way to widen the bracket to fit the clamp. This product clearly needs better shipping packaging if the thick metal brace is bent during shipping. I will say that the seller's customer service was good, although as it is clearly overseas I had to get replies overnight. Also, the email address on the business card included in the package didn't work! I had to look through Revain for a way to contact the seller through the Revain system. The end result was that I started building on the first day and finished it on the third day. One criticism of the product itself: the 2 straps that attach to the front stabilizer bar are very difficult to attach to the bar as they rely on squeezing a handle. through a smaller hole; I haven't attached any straps to the steering wheel yet. Still, the stand itself works really well and it's very convenient to leave my bike where I'm waiting. But man, it took a lot of time and effort to get to this point!
