Revainrating 4 out of 5

These are 5v bulbs - you need to add power.

I was tempted to dismiss them because of the power outage issue, but if you know the problem and are willing to either live with it or fix it yourself, this is a good light. I bought a set of 4 strings (200 bulbs) with a controller and a power supply. If you line up all 4 and put them on top of all the white ones, then the 1st thread will be white, the 2nd will be yellow, the 3rd will be orange, and the 4th will be red. You need to manually add power, maybe in the middle and at the end, to fix this problem. As we got them for a Christmas tree it's a bit of a hassle but with a little soldering or wiring this is easily solved. We add connectors (each strand has a + and - wire separate from the daisy chain connectors so you can add power) and run additional power cords on the back of the tree. The controller has 2 outputs so you can also run them in parallel to get less power drop from a single power supply. Of course, the best solution to reducing the power would be if the manufacturer made it 12V or 24V. However, in rainbow mode and at dimmer settings, the voltage drop is less noticeable. At the same time, they are very bright and the controller is very adjustable. We probably won't run at full brightness. We got them precisely because they were the only addressable lights we could find that had a thin cable and were easily compatible with different controllers. So if we decide to program them ourselves in the future, we can replace the controller. That said, the controller is pretty good. When you change the address mode, it doesn't just switch to the next mode, it seamlessly switches to the current program. There is an IR remote control and Bluetooth. The Bluetooth software on the iPhone works very well, and each of the hundreds of assignable modes is named, which is very helpful. You can choose your own solid colors using the color wheel and saturation slider, which means you can choose something that looks like warm white if you want. Aside from spot colors, this isn't programmable, you just have preset programs. The ability to create custom programs would be very helpful. All in all this seems like a good deal if you can control the voltage drop limit.
