I was a little worried about the type of plastic, used for the jaws good quality/design of ball and socket. However, when I received it, I was amazed. Sleeve bearings are everywhere, and plastic is NOT cheap, it's some sort of rigid composite material that's perfectly fine for this application (ie it's a "holder" for small things, not a "crusher"). There are small friction fingers in the ball seat and the ball is made of powder-coated steel. The factory action was fairly smooth, although I did add some dry graphite lube to the moving parts and threads. Totally worth the premium price, you really do get what you pay for.
