I wasn't sure but bought them when it got hot. Now I have three. I can wear different sizes depending on the cut: 14/16/18. I'm 5ft 6in and probably around 200lbs, broad hips and a decent tukki. 2x fits perfectly and leaves plenty of room at the waist. The slit is quite high but honestly no worse than most shorts so for me it's perfect for the heat we're exposed to, the fabric is soft and feels light and airy despite being a synthetic fabric.
