Review on Sigma 50mm F1.4 Art DG HSM Lens πŸ“Έ for Canon - High-performance and Versatile Lens for Canon Cameras by Eh Chit ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Very pleased with this purchase, will recommend it to everyone!

Now I'm not afraid to shoot full-length portraits for fifty dollars, earlier out of 5 takes, miraculously, one was sharper than the rest. I relaxed with Sigma, because hit up to 100%. The color rendition is interesting, it seems that the orange and blue colors are enhanced. The color is dense, the image is more contrasting in itself. On open apertures, strong vignetting is noticeable, but I didn’t write it down as shortcomings, because. sometimes very much on topic. The image is half a stop lighter than the same one taken with a native fifty dollars. But this is also not a problem, but a feature. Also as a feature, a slightly vibrating bokeh can be recorded. Of course, perhaps I don’t have any enthusiasm for blurring, when compared with 35 1.4, 50 1.2 or 85 1.2, then in general everything is not artistic. But I took the lens for the room, because it does not bother me. In general, for me, this is the best fifty dollars of the tested Canon 50 1.8, 50 1.4 and 50 1.2. The first one is not worth commenting at all, the second one is quite normal, but the work of autofocus and the fragility of the construct made us think about a replacement. Elka, on the other hand, unpleasantly struck HA with the lack of sharpness on open apertures. Autofocus is also so-so. Therefore, the sharp and quite distinct lens from Sigma won a place in my heart and backpack. ate November 2022. With the purchase of 5d mark 4, the issue with vibrating bokeh disappeared - the lens draws in a completely different way, much softer. However, there was a need for adjustment. And in the speed of work, alas, the lens with the new camera did not add.

Pros
  • Amazing after Canon 50 1.4 sharpness at an open aperture, autofocus hit in full-length portraits, image quality under backlight, "dense" color reproduction, minimal chromatic aberrations Stylish appearance
Cons
  • Imperfect autofocus operation, unfortunately, the speed is lower compared to the Canon zooms 24-105 and 70-200 2.8, and we are talking about moving objects (children), if you shoot adults, then the marriage is minimal and most likely my fault. Perspective distortion is noticeably greater than Canon 50 1.4 Of course, the huge size is not really a plus. I occasionally confuse it with 24-105.
