I have citrus trees that I need to protect from frost. It's up to 20 degrees here in Sacramento and my citrus fruits can be damaged by the cold air. These are lightbulbs, so they give off heat. That's enough to save my trees and my fruit. I just put them on branches. When it gets very cold I will cover the trees and the warmth of the five lights off will warm the whole tree. It also makes the tree look very festive, which isn't important but nice.
