It gets one star because it IS pretty. The black case is NOT black. It is a smokey purple. It is also a ZERO protection case. My son has an 8 & he warned that holding it by the sides the way I do can change the screen when I don't want it to. I'm not into the pop sockets, but I thought the ring in the back would help train my fingers to be mindful of that. The black is a clear purple with a black glitter paper insert that provide bling in addition to the purple stones around the edge. If this phone is dropped, it will proved the same protection that having no case on it will. I like different cases for different moods, but I am also of the opinion that it's silly to spend hundreds of a piece of electronics & cheap out on a protective case - especially when those come in such stylish versions too. I am glad I bought several cases as this one is useless.
