Review on Sony SAL-135F18Z: High-performance 135mm f/1.8 Carl Zeiss Sonnar T Telephoto Lens for Sony Alpha Digital SLR Camera by Ricky Khan

Revainrating 4 out of 5

This is the one. on SLR lenses

This really is a unicorn lens as others have attested. I've used a number of specialized fixed focal length portrait lenses, usually in the 85mm to 100mm range, but this is by far the best. Crisp, vibrant colors, superbly rounded bokeh. Yes, it's a heavy monster - definitely not a 'walking' lens like my trusty 24-70mm - but it's the 'big gun' you fire when you're snapping someone's picture in the studio. I've attached a few example photos (including a selfie) taken with my Alpha 7 II camera (attached to this lens via an EAL4 adapter).

Pros
  • 2 ED glass elements for sharp, crisp shots from long distances
Cons
  • Quality
