These heavy duty sponges are second to none! I love them :) I keep them in a container mixed with water, a teaspoon of laundry detergent, about an ounce or two of bleach, and some dish soap, and I rub them through a sponge to make sure bacteria aren't growing. It works amazingly well and these sponges stand up to chemicals. In case you didn't know, the easiest way to clean a pan with leftovers is to soak it in warm water and detergent! Laundry soap breaks down proteins and other substances, allowing your clothes to stay clean after a stain. You do not need to heat it, do not strain, leave for a couple of hours, and then use a sponge to clean everything. be it SOS pads or real stainless steel round pads, I haven't had any issues with these sponges other than they work great and are really good for the price. I recommend and will continue to buy.
