I decided to get this Kraken headset after getting really tired of using my previous Xbox for PC/Hackintosh crappy old turtle beach. They felt like they were cracking the top of my skull and hurting my ears after 2-3 hours of use. I also wanted a headset with a built in mic for Zoom and gaming rather than using the headset AND the Blue Snowball at the same time, although the Snowball's acoustics are amazing. My thoughts on Kraken: Is it worth the hype "I can attest that this headset lives up to the hype and it's not just a brand that sells crappy hardware at high prices. I can't say the same for some of their other headsets that have terrible reviews. However, this headset is comfortable and functional. Notably, Revain is selling it for less than the MSRP, which is a bargain. Pros: - Your headphone cooling technology feels legitimate. - The top of the headset will not break your skull. Great first impression - Extension cord included with dedicated mic and audio jack, nice touch for big tables like mine - Can be worn for hours Cons: - Lower volume range with the volume knob on the audio cord absolutely sucks. I'm not sure if this is just my device, but if you use the onboard volume slider to switch from high to low volume, you'll find that the balance between left and right just shifts randomly. It is definitely annoying to regulate the volume during gaming. If you're having this problem, I suggest turning the volume all the way up and then adjusting the volume on the OS side, not the hardware side, using the keyboard. The mic is a bit finicky with MacOS on my Hackintosh, not sure why but I'll keep working with it. - The ears are a little bigger than I thought they would be, but I feel like this might save my ears for life. - I wish the cable had built-in voice chat/game. Volume balance feature similar to Turtle Beach on Xbox. I understand this is included in the tournament output, but I'm not sure if it's worth the extra $40. Redesigning this crazy USB device with a tournament version would, without a doubt, make this the best headset on the market for $60-$100. Conclusion: Pros and cons weighed - I like this headset. Of course, like anything technology-related, it has some downsides. I'm sure Razer will introduce some killer features in the next generations of this headset to dominate the gaming market. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a comfortable, functional, stylish and affordable headset. With the features packed into this headset, nothing beats $60-$70.
