I really like this gate because it is attractive. It came out of the box ready to use, no assembly required which is a bonus. I didn't have any problems with loops like other reviewers. Did you find minimal scratches and chips - yes, but is it worth leaving negative feedback or sending back - no. The functionality of these gates far outweighs the minor and mostly imperceptible damage. I have a 10 lb Yorkie that needs to stay out of my kitchen. So that's the ideal weight and size. However, a larger dog may have problems - they can push it or push it from the side since it is not attached to the wall. My small dog would never do this so it's perfect for me.
